A new poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics has placed Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, ahead in the race for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership.
According to the survey, Mr. Iddrisu leads the pack with 29.8 percent of voter preference. He is closely followed by the NDC Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who secured 24.1 percent, while Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, placed third with 18.4 percent.
Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, garnered 10.3 percent, while Minister of Foreign Affairs and North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, polled 8.1 percent. Other contenders including Eric Opoku (2.5 percent), Prof. Joshua Alabi (2.2 percent), Armah Kofi-Buah (2.0 percent), Kwame Awuah Darko (1.6 percent), Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah (1.1 percent), and Okoe Vanderpuye (0.1 percent) recorded lower margins of support.

The outcome suggests a competitive race with Haruna Iddrisu maintaining a narrow lead, while Asiedu Nketia and Ato Forson remain in hot pursuit. Julius Debrah and Okudzeto Ablakwa are also within striking distance as the NDC’s internal contest continues to gather momentum.
Observers say the poll reflects the growing debate within the party on who is best placed to lead the NDC into the future. Analysts also note that whoever emerges as leader could have a decisive influence on the NDC’s prospects in the 2028 general elections, shaping both the party’s unity and its ability to challenge the governing party at the national level.
