The Evangelical Presbyterian College of Education, Amedzofe, in the Ho West District of the Volta Region, has commissioned a six-unit, two-bedroom residential flat for its teaching staff.
The facility, which was funded primarily through the College’s internally generated resources, is expected to ease the long-standing accommodation challenges facing staff and improve retention and productivity.
At the commissioning ceremony, the Principal of the College, Dr. Dickson Tsey, described the project as historic, noting that it was the third major facility constructed from internally generated funds in the last four years. He recalled that the administration annex block and a 160-capacity female hostel had earlier been completed under similar arrangements.
According to the Principal, the residential block will reduce the number of staff who commute daily, improve well-being, and enhance the general teaching and learning environment. “This new facility is more than just a milestone. It is a direct intervention in solving the long-standing problem of inadequate staff accommodation on campus,” Dr. Tsey stated.

He expressed gratitude to alumni whose partial contributions supported the project, adding that the College hoped for even stronger alumni involvement in future developments.
The College has also recently completed a fully resourced early-grade resource centre in collaboration with Sabre Education Foundation, aimed at strengthening teacher preparation in foundational education.
Dr. Tsey appealed for continued support from government, philanthropists, and stakeholders to address other pressing infrastructural needs such as an auditorium, improved road networks, and additional hostels for students.
The commissioning of the staff flat forms part of the College’s broader vision to provide a conducive environment for both staff and students as it prepares to mark its 80th anniversary next year.
