South Tongu MP Emphasizes Monitoring and Evaluation in Development Agenda

The Member of Parliament (MP) for South Tongu, Hon. Gabby Hottordze, has underscored the crucial role of monitoring and evaluation in achieving sustainable development within local governance structures.

Speaking at a Town Hall Meeting for the Central Tongu District held at the Old District Assembly Hall in Adidome, Hon. Hottordze said effective monitoring and evaluation mechanisms ensure that development projects are implemented efficiently, equitably, and with measurable impact on the lives of the people.

The meeting, which brought together traditional leaders, assembly members, departmental heads, youth groups, and other stakeholders, offered the MP the opportunity to outline ongoing and completed projects within his constituency.

As part of his presentation, Hon. Hottordze donated two motorbikes and two laptops valued at sixty thousand Ghana Cedis (₵60,000) to the District Directorate of the Ghana Health Service to enhance healthcare delivery. He noted that the gesture was aimed at improving mobility and operational efficiency among health officers across the district.

The MP highlighted a series of interventions undertaken by his office to advance development in the areas of education, infrastructure, and social services. These include the refurbishment of a three-bedroom accommodation for the District Coordinating Director, the donation of 200 dual desks to Mafi Secondary School (MAFSEC) and Adidome Secondary School (ADISEC), as well as the construction of mechanized boreholes capable of providing potable water to about 800 students.

Hon. Hottordze also mentioned the installation of streetlights in several towns across the constituency to improve security and enhance night-time economic activities.

On education, the MP announced that ten students pursuing medical-related programmes have been awarded scholarships worth ten thousand Ghana Cedis (₵10,000) each under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that every development initiative in South Tongu aligns with the broader national goal of sustainable growth, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and community participation as key drivers of progress.

Participants at the meeting commended Hon. Hottordze for his continuous dedication and hands-on approach to development, describing his efforts as a testament to effective representation and responsive leadership.
