Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources Mourns NAIMOS Taskforce Member Killed in Accident

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources is mourning the loss of a member of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) taskforce who died in a fatal accident near the Obuasi Airport enclave on Wednesday.

According to the Ministry, a five-member NAIMOS team was engaged in a major anti-galamsey operation when their vehicle was involved in the crash. One officer was confirmed dead at the scene, while four others sustained serious injuries. They are currently receiving medical treatment.

In a statement, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources extended condolences to the bereaved family and expressed deep sympathy to the injured personnel. He also wished them a speedy recovery.

The Ministry says it has launched a full investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident. It reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all frontline personnel involved in the fight against illegal mining.

The Ministry further assured that the affected officers and their families will receive the necessary support during this difficult period.
