Renovation works at the Ho Sports Stadium are progressing steadily as the Volta Region gears up to host two major national events including the 7th Volta Trade and Investment Fair and the 2025 National Farmers’ Day celebrations.
The Volta Regional Secretariat of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has commended the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), and the Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Stephen Adom, for what it describes as timely and impactful leadership behind the ongoing upgrade.
In a statement signed by the Regional Director, Philippina Frimpong, the NSA said the facelift represents a significant boost to sports infrastructure in the region and will enhance the stadium’s capacity to host high-profile events while supporting athlete development and community recreation.
The scope of work includes improvements to the stadium’s drainage system, provision of new toilet facilities, replacement of seats, installation of shade structures at the open stands, clearing of overgrown vegetation, comprehensive painting, leveling of the stadium compound, and other essential enhancements to bring the facility closer to modern standards.
According to the NSA, these interventions will create a more conducive environment for sporting activities, training, competitions, and youth engagement, while positioning the stadium as a functional hub for regional sports.
The Authority praised the “steadfast commitment and visionary leadership” of Regional Minister James Gunu, noting that his support has renewed confidence in the region’s drive toward sports development and infrastructure renewal.
The Volta Regional Sports Authority reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the VRCC, the Ho Municipal Assembly and all relevant partners to ensure the Ho Sports Stadium remains a symbol of progress and a reliable venue for sporting and national events.
