The newly appointed Regional Engineer of Ghana Water Limited (GWL) in the Volta Region, Ing. Emmanuel Johnson, has paid a courtesy call on the Regional General Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Volta Region, as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration.
The visit created an opportunity for the leadership of the two state-owned utilities to engage in discussions on operational challenges and areas of mutual cooperation, aimed at improving service delivery in the region.
Welcoming the GWL delegation, the Regional General Manager of ECG, Ms. Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, congratulated Ing. Johnson on his appointment and wished him well in his new role. She used the occasion to appeal to Ghana Water Limited to take steps to reduce its outstanding indebtedness to ECG, noting that GWL remains one of the company’s major debtors in the region.
Responding, Ing. Johnson acknowledged the debt situation and assured ECG of GWL’s commitment to resolving the matter. He, however, appealed for the issue to be addressed at the Head Office level of both institutions to allow for an amicable and sustainable resolution.
Ing. Johnson also acknowledged earlier technical recommendations made by ECG, Volta Region, particularly regarding adjustments to the tap settings of transformers at Ghana Water Limited’s head works. He indicated that GWL’s Head Office had responded positively to the recommendations and expressed appreciation to ECG for the technical support extended to the company.
The Regional Engineer was accompanied by the Regional Production Manager of GWL, Ing. Radford Djan Amu.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both Ghana Water Limited and the Electricity Company of Ghana to deepen cooperation and coordination in the interest of efficient and reliable service delivery to the public.
