As Ghana marks Heritage Month this March, the Ho Sports Stadium in the Volta Region hosted the maiden edition of Corporate Bites 2026, an event that placed Ghanaian cuisine and cultural identity at the forefront of corporate engagement.
The programme brought together various corporate institutions to compete primarily in the preparation of local dishes, highlighting the richness and diversity of Ghana’s culinary heritage.
Organisers say the initiative is aimed not only at fostering teamwork among corporate bodies but also at preserving and promoting indigenous foods.

The Volta Regional General Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, underscored the broader significance of the event.
“Corporate Bites is a unique initiative designed to bring together corporate institutions not only to showcase our culinary skills but also to promote teamwork, creativity, wellness and collaboration beyond the formal working environment,” she said.
She emphasised that beyond the competition, the event serves as a platform for cultural expression and connection. “Beyond the competition, the true essence of Corporate Bites is in building lasting relationships and enjoying the experience together,” she added.

The competition featured a variety of traditional Ghanaian meals, reflecting the country’s and for that matter the region’s rich food culture, while also incorporating recreational activities such as football, volleyball, ludo, oware, draughts and playing cards to enhance social interaction as well as health screening.
At the end of the keenly contested event, Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) emerged as winners of the maiden edition of the cooking competition while Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) emerged winners in both football and volleyball competitions.
The Volta Regional Manager of GCB PLC, Selorm Hutor, described the programme as impactful and timely.

“This Corporate Bites programme is very, very fruitful… we always want to take advantage of these opportunities to come and wind down and meet other people from other corporate organisations,” he noted.
“The organisation has been spot on… and we’ll forever be taking part. I think next year it will be bigger,” he added.
Ho West District Manager of Ghana Water Limited, Mr. Maxwell Ansah described the event as impressive and called for its continuity.
“This is the first time something of this sort is being held… and it has been very impressive. Look at the games and the cooking competition, everything,” he said. “I hope that next year is going to be more marvellous than this one,” he added.

The maiden edition, held in the spirit of Ghana Month, is expected to grow into a major platform for celebrating Ghanaian culture through food, recreation and corporate unity.
Participating institutions included the Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Water Limited, Lands Commission, National Sports Authority, the Electricity Company of Ghana and the Customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

Organisers indicated that the event will be rotated among participating institutions in subsequent years to deepen collaboration and sustain interest. Customs will host the 2027 edition.
