Award winning Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame, has announced a new musical direction as he prepares to release a reggae project ahead of his 50th birthday.
The artiste revealed that his upcoming album, titled Gentle Rebel, will mark his first full exploration into the reggae genre.
“On the 10th, I’m releasing the new single of my new album… the song is called Clap and you are going to love it,” he said.
He explained that the decision to venture into reggae is part of a broader desire to challenge himself creatively and expand his musical boundaries.
“The new album is reggae because I’ve not done a reggae album… so now I’m going to try new things,” he stated.
Okyeame Kwame added that turning 50 has inspired a renewed sense of purpose and urgency in his music career.
“From 50 I want to pour out more music… I don’t think I have fully done that,” he admitted.
Reflecting on personal growth, he noted a shift in mindset compared to earlier years.
“When I was turning 40… I was so scared… but now that I’m turning 50, I can’t wait to be 60,” he shared.
The new single Clap is expected to set the tone for the upcoming album, as the musician embraces a fearless approach to his artistry and legacy.
