The Founder of Maranatha Power Ministries International, Bishop Noble Francis Afotey Odai, has handed over two mechanised boreholes valued at 200,000 Ghana cedis to the chiefs and people of Kpedze in the Ho West District of the Volta Region to improve access to clean and safe water.
The presentation coincided with Bishop Afotey Odai’s birthday celebration, during which he expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve the community in a meaningful way.
“We saw the need for water when it was asked for. By the grace of God, we have drilled two boreholes for the people,” he said. “This is not a typical Sunday-Sunday church. We do schools, crusades, and community projects as the need arises,” the Bishop added.

He noted that Maranatha Power Ministries has also been involved in constructing school buildings, clinics, and leadership training centres in several parts of Ghana as part of its broader social intervention mission.
Receiving the facilities on behalf of the community, the Ho West District Chief Executive, Mr. Francis Profer Dusey, expressed appreciation to the church for its continued partnership with government efforts to provide potable water to rural communities.
“Clean water is always important, especially during times of waterborne diseases,” Mr. Dusey said. “This gesture by Maranatha Power Ministries is in the right direction. We must all help protect the facility so that unborn children can also benefit from it.”
Mr. Dusey revealed that the Ho West District Assembly is currently undertaking 25 different borehole projects, comprising 10 new mechanised systems and 15 hand-dug wells, while an NGO has promised to provide an additional 42 boreholes across the district.

He added that a local management committee would be set up to ensure the maintenance and sustainability of the newly commissioned boreholes, emphasizing that “without proper management, such projects cannot last.”
The event, attended by traditional leaders, assembly officials, and community members, highlighted the importance of faith-based organisations in complementing government’s development efforts in rural Ghana.
