A potential industrial disaster was averted on Sunday, February 15, 2026, when firefighters from the Ho Municipal Fire Service contained a fire outbreak at a paint manufacturing company in the Ho West District of the Volta Region.

The late-morning incident destroyed one of two production units of the facility, which store and process highly flammable paint materials. Fire personnel responded swiftly after receiving a distress call and managed to prevent the flames from spreading to adjoining sections of the factory.

No injuries were recorded. However, parts of the production area sustained damage. Assistant Fire Station Officer Kwame Kyei, who spoke to the news team, said the rapid response was crucial in preventing a larger industrial fire.

“We received the call at about 11: 29, quickly deployed our team and got here at 11:40 to the scene. Due to the nature of materials used in paint production, the fire could have escalated, but we were able to control it.”

The Ghana National Fire Service has begun investigations to determine the cause of the outbreak. Management of the company has meanwhile been advised to strictly observe fire safety protocols, especially regarding the storage and handling of combustible chemicals.

Residents and workers in the area have also been urged to promptly report fire incidents to help reduce damage and save lives.
