Management of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s Volta Star Radio in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region has paid a courtesy call on Togbe Kasa III, the Divisional Chief (Dufia) of Ahoe and his elders at Ho-Ahoe.

The delegation, led by the Regional Director of GBC, Mr. Franklin Agbenyo, engaged the traditional leaders on ways to strengthen collaboration between the station and the local community.

The Volta Regional Director of GBC, Mr. Agbenyo, announced that Volta Star Radio will soon roll out a community engagement initiative across the Volta Region, with Ahoe selected as the starting point. “Our mandate as a public service broadcaster is to bring development-oriented information closer to the people. We are beginning this new engagement drive here in Ahoe because of the vision and leadership your community has shown,” Mr. Agbenyo stated.

He assured the traditional authorities of the station’s continuous support for community development and pledged to sustain collaboration with chiefs and people across the region.

Togbe Kasa III, who is also the Right Wing Chief of the Asogli Traditional Area, underscored the importance of Volta Star Radio in the development of the region since its inception almost 30 years ago, describing the station as “a vital voice for the people of Volta.”

He commended Volta Star Radio for its instrumental role in promoting free and fair elections during the 2024 general polls. He said the station’s coverage helped boost transparency and public confidence in the electoral process. “Volta Star Radio stood tall in serving the people with credible information during the elections. Your work gave assurance to our people that their voices mattered,” Togbe Kasah noted.

The chief further briefed the management team on the ongoing construction of a community information center at Ho-Ahoe, which will house a radio and television station to enhance information flow, community engagement, and development.

The visit, which was marked by cultural courtesies and mutual appreciation, is expected to strengthen ties between GBC’s Volta Star Radio and the Ahoe traditional leadership, paving the way for greater cooperation in promoting development and amplifying community voices in the Volta Region.
