As part of activities marking Mawuli School’s 75th Anniversary, the 2000 Year Group of the Old Mawuli Students Union (OMSU) has completed the renovation of one of the School’s most historic structures popularly known as the “White Block” and will officially hand it over to the School on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
The gesture forms part of the Group’s 25th Anniversary legacy project, undertaken at an estimated cost of GHC 300,000. The project involved full structural repairs, roofing and painting, replacement of classroom furniture, and modernization of interior facilities to enhance teaching and learning conditions.
Built in the early years of Mawuli School’s expansion, the “White Block” is one of the institution’s most iconic classroom buildings. It has served as a cornerstone of learning and personal growth for generations of students since the School’s establishment in 1950.
Speaking on behalf of the 2000 Year Group, Media and Publicity Committee Chair, Mr. Anthony Kafui Kanyi, said the decision to restore the “White Block” was driven by deep sentimental attachment and a desire to preserve a vital piece of the School’s heritage.
“For many of us, the ‘White Block’ was where our journey at Mawuli began. It’s where we built friendships, discipline, and values that shaped our lives. Restoring it is our way of giving back to the institution that made us who we are,” he noted in a press release.

The official handing-over ceremony will be held at the forecourt of the renovated building and is expected to bring together school authorities, students, alumni, parents, and invited dignitaries. It will also serve as a moment of reflection on the School’s legacy and the enduring spirit of service among its old students.
In addition to the renovation project, the 2000 Year Group will make a charitable donation to the Ho Central Female Prisons on Friday, October 24, 2025, as part of its 25th Anniversary celebration. Members will interact with inmates and prison officials to offer encouragement and support.
The donation exercise, according to the Group, is aimed at promoting compassion, social responsibility, and reintegrate values that align with Mawuli School’s founding principles of “Head, Heart, and Hand.”
The weekend’s celebration will also feature participation in the OMSU 75th Anniversary Float through Ho township and a 90s-themed social night before the grand handing-over ceremony on Sunday.
Founded in 1950 by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. C.W. Armstrong, Mawuli School remains one of Ghana’s most respected second-cycle institutions. The School continues to produce influential leaders across governance, academia, business, medicine, and the arts, upholding its reputation as a cradle of discipline, faith, and excellence.
Through the renovation of the “White Block” and other impact initiatives, the 2000 Year Group reaffirms the enduring Mawulian spirit of gratitude, service, and commitment to building the next generation of leaders.
