As Mawuli School marked its 75th Anniversary in Ho, a touching moment unfolded when a man affectionately called “Kportimelakle”, a member of the 1959 year group returned to join in the celebrations. Soon to turn 90, his presence stirred deep emotions among attendees, symbolizing the enduring spirit and history of the school.

Looking around the jubilant crowd, Kportimelakle quietly shared, “I did not meet any of my classmates.” His words, though simple, carried the weight of time. Most of his peers, he said, had long gone to be with their Maker, and those still alive might have been too frail to make the journey back to their beloved alma mater.

The moment struck a reflective chord among the gathering. it called for a gentle reminder that life is fleeting, and the moments we share are precious. It underscored the need to cherish relationships, extend forgiveness, and celebrate one another while there is still time and life.

Beyond the grand speeches, songs, and pageantry that characterized the 75th Anniversary celebration, Kportimelakle’s quiet reflection stood out as a lesson in gratitude and legacy.

As one observer put it, “Legacy isn’t just in what we build, it’s in the hearts we touch and the lives we uplift.”

Mawuli School, founded in 1950, continues to inspire generations through its commitment to discipline, excellence, and service. The 75th Anniversary celebration brought together old students, staff, and dignitaries from across the country to honor that enduring heritage.
