Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame is set to celebrate his 50th birthday with a major fundraising initiative aimed at supporting healthcare delivery for children.
The artiste announced plans to raise funds to construct a paediatric emergency unit at the Manhyia Hospital as part of activities marking his milestone birthday.
“On the 18th I’ve invited 10 top young artists to come and sing five songs each… it’s called a night of 50 songs and love,” he said.
According to him, some of the proceeds from the event will go towards improving emergency care for children at the facility, which currently faces significant infrastructure challenges.
“The original emergency unit at Manhyia hospital has two beds and then the doctors… have expanded their veranda and turned it into an emergency,” he revealed.
Okyeame Kwame stressed the need for a modern facility to enhance healthcare delivery, especially in critical situations involving children.
“You want to be in an air-conditioned facility on a nice adjustable bed with oxygen… that’s what we are trying to build, an ultra-modern one,” he added.
The fundraising concert, dubbed A Night of 50 Songs and Love, will feature performances from some of Ghana’s top young artistes, each performing five songs.
Beyond the celebration, the musician says the initiative reflects a deeper personal mission to make meaningful impact with his talent.
“Every time when I ask myself… what did I do with my talent… I think that’s the question,” he noted.
He is therefore urging the public to support the event, not only for entertainment but also to contribute to a life-saving cause.
