Parliament has officially notified the Electoral Commission (EC) of a vacancy in the Kpandai Constituency following a High Court order for a rerun of the parliamentary elections.
In a formal letter dated 4th December 2025, the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, invoked Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution to inform the EC Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, of the development.
The notification follows the service of a court order on the Clerk as the 4th Respondent in a case numbered NR/TL/HC/E13/22/25, in which the High Court in Tamale directed a fresh parliamentary election for the constituency.
According to the Clerk, the vacancy was occasioned by the court’s ruling on 24th November 2025, which annulled the earlier results of the Kpandai Parliamentary Elections and ordered a rerun.
The letter, addressed to the EC Chairperson, signals the start of the constitutional processes required for the conduct of the rerun election in Kpandai.
The Electoral Commission is expected to announce the date and modalities for the rerun in accordance with existing electoral laws.
