The Ghana Police Service has arrested seven suspected members of a human trafficking syndicate and rescued forty-eight victims in Ho in the Volta Region.

The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Asiamah, Frimpong Jerry, Paul Mensah, Bismark Perry, Vida Gefah, Ebenezer Kwabena Owusu, and Prince Kaku, were picked up during two separate intelligence-led operations conducted on 8 and 10 January 2026 at Fiave Dablah Ayekple Street, Ho CK Road, and Somey Junction.

The Police said the victims, mainly young adults and students, were reportedly lured with promises of overseas travel and subsequently held under deceptive and coercive conditions.

During the operations, Police investigators seized assorted documents, including official receipts reportedly issued to victims after the payment of various sums of money for purported visa procurement services. Other documents retrieved are believed to be linked to ongoing fraudulent activities by the syndicate.

All seven suspects are in custody assisting with investigations, while the Police work to locate parents and relatives of the rescued victims. A manhunt has also been launched for additional suspects believed to be connected to the syndicate.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and safeguarding citizens from organised scams.
