Calm has been restored in Sampa, the capital of the Jaman North District in the Bono Region, following a violent clash between two rival factions, Sammordua and Sambga Gyafla, at the Sampa Main Market on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
According to a statement from the Bono Regional Police Command, the clash led to sporadic gunfire and the burning of several stores within the market area. Police received a distress call about the incident and quickly deployed personnel to the scene to contain the situation and provide escort for a Ghana National Fire Service tender and an ambulance transporting a pregnant woman to the hospital.
In the course of the operation, police officers reportedly came under fire from the armed factions. Several officers sustained gunshot wounds, and a police service vehicle with registration number GP 686 veered into a ditch during the exchange.

The injured officers were rushed to the Sampa Government Hospital, where seven were treated and discharged. One officer who sustained a head injury has been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for further treatment.
The Police Command says patrols have since been intensified in Sampa to maintain order, assuring residents that the situation is now under control. It also indicated that efforts are underway to apprehend all individuals involved in the disturbances.
The Bono Regional Police Command has urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement officers as investigations continue.
