Key stakeholders involved in the construction of inner roads in Tanyigbe in the Ho Municipality of the Volta region have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the timely and successful completion of the project.

A meeting, held at the Palace of the Paramount Chief, Togbe Kodi Adiko VI, brought together representatives of the Ho Municipal Assembly, the Tanyigbe Traditional Council, Bumecon Construction Limited, and the Assembly Member for the area.

The Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Stephen Adom, led the government delegation, while the Paramount Chief of Tanyigbe, Togbe Kodi Adiko VI, led the traditional authorities. The contractor was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Eric Agbley, with Assembly Member Ivy Emefa Adiko also in attendance.

Discussions focused on aligning expectations, addressing community concerns, and reviewing the project’s scope and timelines. The contractor indicated that about seven kilometres of inner roads would be constructed, with completion expected within two years. Work has already begun.

The Tanyigbe Traditional Council assured stakeholders of its full support, pledging to promote peace, help resolve disputes, and facilitate smooth implementation of the project. The Council also appealed to residents to cooperate with contractors and use appropriate channels to address concerns.

Traditional authorities further called on the contractor to ensure quality work, adhere strictly to timelines, engage respectfully with the community, and consider employing local labour where feasible.

Mr Adom reiterated government’s commitment to infrastructure development, stating that such projects are part of a broader national agenda and not tied to electoral cycles. He urged residents to support the initiative to accelerate development in the area.

Meanwhile, engineers from the Ghana Water Limited, led by Salifu Ameen, have announced plans to restore water supply to Tanyigbe and nearby communities. The team is expected to repair a faulty pump at Akoefe, which has disrupted potable water supply for more than five years.

Residents have been assured that water supply will be restored within 10 to 14 days.

The Paramount Chief used the occasion to invite Mr Ameen to this year’s Tanyigbe Yam Festival scheduled for September.

Stakeholders expressed optimism that the road project would improve transportation, reduce dust and erosion, and enhance economic activities in the community.
