The Volta Region is set to take centre stage this December as it prepares to host the 41st National Farmers’ Day Celebration and the 2025 Volta Trade and Investment Fair in the regional capital, Ho.
At a press soirée held at Ho, the Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, officially announced the region’s readiness to welcome the nation for the annual celebration, scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2025, under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”
Hon. Gunu described the theme as a reflection of Ghana’s collective responsibility to promote food self-sufficiency, encourage the consumption of locally produced foods, and ensure a resilient and sustainable agricultural future.
He noted that since its inception in 1985, the National Farmers’ Day has become a cornerstone event recognizing the hard work and innovation of Ghana’s farmers, fishers, and agricultural workers who remain the backbone of the national economy.
“Hosting the 41st edition in the Volta Region is both a privilege and recognition of the region’s significant contribution to national food security,” Hon. Gunu stated. “From our fertile plains and vibrant fisheries to our growing agribusiness sector, the Volta Region continues to play a key role in feeding Ghana and sustaining livelihoods.”
Economic and Social Gains
The Regional Minister outlined several benefits the region stands to gain from hosting the event, including an economic boost from increased commercial activity, promotion of agri-business and tourism, and opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing.
He also emphasized that the event will motivate more youth to venture into agriculture, create job opportunities, and provide national recognition for hardworking farmers from the region.
“Successfully hosting this national event will enhance the region’s image, foster unity among our people, and strengthen our pride as a region,” he added.

Preparations and Partnerships
Hon. Gunu announced that the VRCC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, District Assemblies, Traditional Authorities, and development partners, has already begun extensive preparations to ensure a well-organized and memorable celebration.
Preceding activities will include engagements with Municipal and District Chief Executives, Coordinating Directors, and Directors of Agriculture, as well as regional and district-level Farmers’ Day celebrations, and a Trade and Investment Fair designed to showcase Volta’s vast agricultural and business potential.
The Minister extended an open invitation to corporate bodies, farmer-based organizations, and individuals to support and sponsor the celebration.
“If we work together, we can showcase the best of the Volta Region’s hospitality, culture, and agricultural excellence,” he urged.
A Call to Celebrate Farmers
Hon. Gunu paid tribute to Ghana’s farmers and fishers for their resilience and contribution to national development, describing the Farmers’ Day as a platform to honor their sacrifices and reaffirm government’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector.
He called on residents of the Volta Region to actively participate and demonstrate the region’s well-known spirit of unity, hospitality, and excellence.
“The Volta Region stands ready to host Ghana with pride, enthusiasm, and warmth as we celebrate our farmers and recommit to building a sustainable agricultural future for all,” he concluded.
