The beneficiary communities include Yorkuvi, Ave-Dzalele, Ave-Dakpa, Ave-Xevi, Ave-Fiave, Metsrikasa, Hadave, and Avevoe. The initiative also forms part of the government’s commitment to tackling water challenges in rural areas, thereby enhancing residents’ quality of life and fostering sustainable development.
Commissioning the projects in the beneficiary communities, Mr Katamani emphasized the importance of a culture of maintenance, urging the communities to take ownership of the water facilities to ensure their longevity. He pledged the Assembly’s quest to extend the project to other deprived areas to address the water and sanitation needs of the people of Akatsi North.
Mr Katamani was hopeful that by providing the boreholes and other water systems, the Assembly will in a long term alleviate the struggles faced by residents in accessing potable water, a basic necessity crucial for health, hygiene, and economic stability. “Provision of clean water would have a profound impact on the health and well-being of the residents in these communities, reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases and improving hygiene practices”, Mr Katamani said.
He expressed his gratitude to the central government for its support and assured the people of Akatsi North that, the Assembly will execute other development projects to improve their living standard.
