The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) says it will pursue legal action with both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA following Senegal’s withdrawal from the final match of the ongoing continental tournament.
The incident occurred after the match referee awarded a penalty to Morocco, a decision the FRMF insists was correct based on assessments from technical officiating specialists. The call prompted protest from the Senegalese side, resulting in the team walking off the field and forcing a temporary suspension of play.
In a statement, the Moroccan Federation maintained that the disruption significantly affected the rhythm and competitive balance of the match. It further emphasised that it would seek remedy through the established legal and disciplinary mechanisms within CAF and FIFA.
The FRMF also paid tribute to Moroccan supporters, describing their turnout and vocal backing throughout the competition as exemplary. The Federation extended appreciation to all stakeholders whose efforts contributed to the successful organisation of the tournament.
