The new Commanding Officer of the Artillery Training School at Akoefe, the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region, Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Quaye, has paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Tanyigbe Traditional Area, Togbe Kodi Adiko VI, to formally introduce himself and reaffirm a long-standing ties between the military institution and the community.
The visit which took place at the Tanyigbe Palace formed part of Lt. Col. Quaye’s engagements following his assumption of command earlier this month. He said the call was to pay homage to the traditional authorities as custodians of the land and to strengthen relations that have existed over the years.
Lt. Col. Quaye recalled the history of cooperation between the Training School and Tanyigbe, noting the support extended to key institutional activities.

He also thanked representatives of the chiefs and people of Tanyigbe who attended the handing-over and taking-over ceremony between himself and the outgoing Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aturie, on 12 January 2026.
Welcoming the delegation, the Paramount Chief of Tanyigbe Traditional Area, Togbe Kodi Adiko VI referenced the early establishment of the Artillery Training School during the tenure of his predecessor, Togbe Kwasi Adiko V, including the release of portions of Tanyigbe land for the project. He said the school and the community have since enjoyed a cordial relationship with shared benefits.
The Paramount Chief acknowledged the consistent support of the military institution during the annual Yam Festival, particularly in providing security, coordinating activities and leading drills during the Health Walk component. He further commended the school for its regular participation in traditional events and its contribution to maintaining order in the area.

Togbe Kodi Adiko VI and the elders appealed to the Commanding Officer to consider the youth of Tanyigbe, both male and female, when opportunities arise for the engagement of Defence Civilian Staff at the Artillery Training School.
They also called for enhanced collaboration to help address growing drug abuse concerns affecting young people in both the Tanyigbe and Akoefe Traditional Areas.
Present at the meeting were Mamaga Klu Adiko II, Paramount Queenmother; Togbe Amewakunu Kwasi Danku IV, Chief of the Etoe Division; Zikpuitor Enos Adiko Mensa, Stool Father of the Kodi Stool; Sorhefiaga Delali Quao, Youth Leader; Togbe Eblu Katteh I, Chief of the Vlivi Sub-Division; Togbe Kwasi Tutu II, and Nutefewofia of Tanyigbe; Isaac Tawiah Gbortsu.
Others included Secretary; Fiator Dickson Biney; Fiator Sampson Dzawu; Enos Abredu, High Priest of Tanyigbe, as well as representatives of all sixteen clans.

Lt. Col. Quaye was accompanied by Captain Baako, Adjutant; SWO I Arde, Regimental Sergeant Major; SWO II Sossu; Lance Corporal Anyima; and Lance Corporal Amoako.
The visit reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the Ghana Armed Forces and traditional authorities in promoting peace, security and community development.
