The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Volta Region has intensified efforts to improve service delivery through strategic stakeholder engagement, with a series of working visits to key institutions in Ho.
The Regional Management team, led by the Regional General Manager, Ms. Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, visited the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), and the Nursing Training College, Ho, to strengthen institutional collaboration and address operational concerns.
At all three institutions, management highlighted persistent challenges affecting operations, including unstable power supply, billing concerns, and metering issues within the region.

During the engagement with PURC, the Commission emphasized the need for ECG to strictly adhere to regulatory guidelines, particularly in relation to power outages and disconnections during nights and weekends. PURC, however, reaffirmed its commitment to continued collaboration to enhance service delivery.
Discussions with UHAS and the Nursing Training College focused on the impact of power fluctuations on academic and residential facilities, especially medical laboratories and student hostels. The institutions expressed appreciation to ECG for the engagement and called for sustained dialogue to address the challenges.
As part of measures to deepen collaboration, Ms. Jatoe-Kaleo proposed academic opportunities for ECG staff within the two institutions. The proposal was well received, with the institutions encouraging interested applicants to meet the requisite admission requirements.

ECG and UHAS also agreed to explore further areas of partnership, including formalizing a role for the power distributor as an energy consultant to the university.
In response to concerns raised, ECG committed to conducting an energy audit at the Asogli Hostel to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions to improve power usage.
The ECG team further briefed stakeholders on medium- to long-term interventions aimed at addressing voltage challenges across the Volta Region.
The engagements form part of ECG’s broader strategy to strengthen partnerships and enhance operational efficiency through collaborative problem-solving.
