The Volta Regional Office of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), in collaboration with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), has undertaken a high-visibility joint Easter enforcement exercise along the Eastern Corridor Road (N2 Highway).
The operation forms part of efforts to enhance road safety awareness and ensure compliance with traffic regulations during the Easter festivities, a period often associated with increased vehicular movement and road crashes.

During the exercise, riders were reminded of the importance of wearing protective helmets, while enforcement teams removed unapproved and potentially dangerous lighting systems mounted on vehicles and motorcycles. Drivers, riders, and passengers were also taken through safety education aimed at promoting responsible road use.
Officials say the initiative is anchored on a broader Easter campaign focusing on safety sensitization, increased visibility of enforcement personnel, and strict adherence to road traffic laws.

The Regional Road Safety Authority emphasized that the use of unapproved lamps poses significant risks to road users, including reduced visibility and the potential to cause accidents. As such, it has declared a firm stance against their use as part of ongoing enforcement efforts.

Authorities have urged all road users to cooperate with enforcement teams and prioritize safety to help reduce accidents and fatalities during and beyond the festive season.
